In the year since Big Cheese's exile, Al has, for all intents and purposes, run Little Tokyo due to the exile of the chancellor, the madness of the emperor, the frequent absence of the empress, the spoiled-brat-ness of the princess, and the apathy of the Royal Council in most matters not pertaining directly to their own pocket books. He carries a cerimonial sword, or what would normally be a cerimonial sword on a person of his rank but is actually a real sword on him, that he can use quite well. He is the "leader" of the Pizza Cats, so much as anyone is, and has chosen Officer Thomas O'Grady as his second in the case of his own absence. He Hates Mack Scranton with a passion only matched by that for his duty to Little Tokyo. For some unknown reason Mack begins to insult Al whenever they meet. This antagonism has no apparent cause. However, toward Mack's sidekick Hassan he holds high esteem and friendship.
